Balek'B'secondary School in Bomet central, Bomet County has withstood various challenges to become what it is today.
According to the principal, Mr Tembai Laboso, the school has been in the forefront in ensuring that learners get the best that the school can offer.
" The issuance of free textbook by the government last year has real boosted our work," Laboso said.
Mr Laboso said the school had posted remarkable improvement in science subjects.
He said most learners have a poor background in languages and asked teachers at primary school level to put emphasis on them.
"To mitigate the challenge at hand, we have come up with strategies of ensuring that our learners improve their English and Swahili writing and speaking skills," he said.
He asked the county government to help the school expand its infrastructure, especially classrooms and toilets.
"A time has come when county government should go beyond supporting ECDE and village polytechnics," he said.
Mr. Laboso thanked the national government through the ministry of Education for giving free textbooks to schools.
"We hope they will give us more books, especially for for humanities," he said.
